Role Purpose
As HSE Lead, you are the operational lead for Health, Safety and Environment within Petrodec and act as the deputy to the QHSE Manager. You play a key role in strengthening Petrodec’s safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards, and supporting safe offshore operations across all projects and activities.
The HSE Lead acts as the second-in-command within the QHSE department, taking ownership of HSE coordination, operational & project support, incident management, audits and continuous improvement initiatives. You work closely with offshore and onshore teams to proactively identify risks, implement effective control measures and ensure operational readiness.
This role is strongly focused on Health, Safety and Environment. Quality Assurance activities are managed separately within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Leadership & Operational Support
· Support and reports to the QHSE Manager in daily HSE activities and act as backup when needed.
· Act as the primary HSE focal point for offshore and onshore operations
· Provide guidance and support to Rig & Project Managers, OIMs, Supervisors and department heads on HSE matters
· Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation
· Support operational risk management and safe systems of work
HSE Management System & Compliance
· Support implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Petrodec’s Integrated Management System (IMS)
· Ensure compliance with applicable HSE legislation, offshore regulations and company procedures
· Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards and translate requirements into operational practice
· Maintain audit readiness across projects and operational sites
· Ensure proper document control and compliance with company governance standards
Audits, Inspections & Assurance
· Plan and perform internal audits, inspections and supplier assessments
· Support external certification and client audits
· Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely close-out
· Conduct workplace inspections and safety observations both offshore and onshore
Incident Investigation & Risk Management
· Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analyses and lessons learned processes
· Track incidents, near misses and corrective actions to identify trends and improvement opportunities
· Support HAZID, HAZOP, COMOPS and operational risk reviews
· Participate in emergency preparedness planning, drills and exercises
Continuous Improvement & Engagement
· Drive HSE performance improvement initiatives across the organisation
· Support development and delivery of HSE awareness and training initiatives
· Contribute to KPI reporting, management reviews and performance monitoring
· Encourage workforce engagement and active participation in HSE programs
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field
· 3–5 years of HSE experience, preferably in offshore, marine, energy or heavy industry
· Offshore operational experience or strong affinity with offshore environments
· Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
· Experience with audits, inspections and incident investigations
· Good understanding of HSE legislation, compliance and risk management
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Fluent in English and proficient in Microsoft Office
· NEBOSH, Internal Auditor certification, and offshore decommissioning or marine experience are considered an advantage
